Elias Martinez Jr

Elias Martinez, Jr, age 70, passed away August 30, 2022. He was born on October 5, 1951 to Elias Martinez, Sr. and Maria Aurora Martinez in Stafford, Texas. He was raised in Corpus Christi, TX.

Elias enjoyed barbecuing, fishing, watching football (and selling football squares), buying old cars and fixing them up. Most of all, he enjoyed telling jokes and being known as the “jokester” while spending time with his family. His favorite salutation was “Hey, Johnny”.

Elias is preceded in death by his parents Elias and Maria, and by his siblings; Maria Isabel Kofron, Josefina Hernandez, Maria Aurora Coronado, Martin Martinez, and Reyna Martinez.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Sylvia Martinez of 24 years, his children; Elias Martinez, III, Esmi (Ray) Ramirez, Rudy (Amy) Martinez, Adam (Nicky) Martinez and his stepchildren; Pablo (Nancy) Vela, Rene (Yayi) Vela, Eusebio “Chivo” (Corina) Vela, Elida Vela, and Brenda (Robert) Garcia; siblings: Rene Martinez, Irma Martinez, and Janie Coronado. He is also survived by his 30 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be held at 7:00 PM that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM, Friday, September 9, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Having the honor to serve as pallbearers are Pablo Vela, Rene Vela, Eusebio “Chivo” Vela, Ray Ramirez, Rudy Martinez, Adam Martinez. Elias Martinez, III will serve as honorary pallbearer.
