George A. Torres

George Abdon Torrez, age 73, passed away February 11, 2022. He was born August 31, 1948. George graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1968 and then enlisted in the US Navy. He was a DJ for KCCT and KUNO Radio and played in many bands. George was inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame on January 9, 2016. He enjoyed music and being a Eucharistic Minister. He will always be remembered for his love of music. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather.

 
George is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Maria Torrez, his brother, Robert Torrez and his niece, Monica Torrez.

George is survived by his wife, Irma C. Torres, his children, George A. Torres, Carlos A. Torres, Irma Lorraine Torres, David P. Torrez, Santana Garcia and Daisy Ayala, 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, sister, Leticia Abrego (Ruben), 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Carlos Torres, David Torrez, Jonathon Sifuentes, Timothy Torres, David Torrez, II and Carlos Torres, III.
