We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Rose Hill Memorial Park
Loney was an outstanding young man who loved making new friends and trying new things. He was 17 years old when we lost him to an unexpected heat stroke during his first football game with Wings Athletics. Loney was just 9 days away from his 18th birthday.
During his childhood he played sports like tennis, boxing and kick boxing. He joined the Fire Explorer program and became the Commander of his fire squad. While attending Harold T. Branch Academy he enrolled in the Fire Academy program and excelled becoming cadet lieutenant of his team.
Loney attended his fire pinning ceremony the day before passing away. Loney planned to serve in the Air Force as a firefighter and return home to work for the Corpus Christi Fire Department.
His mother Nilda Diaz and brother Lino Diaz loved him and supported him.
The family asks the funeral guests that instead of buying more flowers, to make donations to Wings Athletics or the Kelsey Memorial UMC Youth group. Loney will be loved and remembered as an irreplaceable, charismatic, respectful and friendly leader, son, and friend.
